Who would have thought that something so simple as a bacon roll could lift, so completely, an otherwise bumbling day.
A spur of the moment text to my dear, darling wife and a freshly made, wholesome, bacon roll was soon wafting its irresistable odours outside my door. Often, I've found, a bacon roll can smell better than it looks - this didn't. It smelt good and tasted better. Smashing. What's more, it was free, courtesy of the good old NHS. The dietician looking after my nutritional state has given Corri a pile of signed slips that can be redeemed, at will, for free, for anything they're able to conjure in the staff canteen. All very accomodating and ideal, as the other option is to stick to the thing you ordered the day before when, by today, it's probably the last thing on earth you feel like eating.
I also just got post. A nice book from Allie & David and an outstanding 1991 Poll Tax demand from Glasgow City council - man those swines fair find ye.
Great Joe - lovely to "hear" you on the internet - just as sarky as ever. Hope you enjoy the book - the main character reminded me a bit of you! Keep Corri going on the Wii - every bit of fitness training helps and we are going to need it in 5 weeks time! Barring injury looks like we are up for a PB, even without you and David popping up on bikes every few miles!

Having recently been introduced to Wii Sports, courtesy of our darling wee ankle biters, I can thoroughly recommend the boxing. It's a cardio vascular workout and anger management therapy all in one. :-)

ReplyDeleteMan, do we miss British bacon! The stuff they call bacon here in the US is just dismal :-( Your post about bacon rolls has me salivating ...
No time for a longer comment, as Katie just came running downstairs with a huge handful of Kleenex, gleefully saying 'Look what we've done!" ... and there is far too much laughter going on upstairs for it to be anythig good ... :-)
