Morning all.
A very slow start today, I'm afraid. Just wasn't feeling 100% first thing and that was made worse by the 10 minute shift on the loo, followed by a bit of nausea. Seems to have settled now though and I'm trying to replenish the lost fluids as best I can.
I think I'll forgo the bacon roll this morning.
My blood results from yesterday show things are dropping, as expected, and I imagine that this morning's results will show my Neutrophil count below 1, meaning I'm neutropenic. That would certainly explain the increased yuckiness this morning. It's all gotta go down before it can go up.
The nurse has just brought me in a brand new excercise bike. Woohoo. Looks great. I'll aim to make the most of it, but if nothing else, it'll give my visitors something else to sit on.
Apologies for distinct lack of jovial banter and black humour. I shall attempt to redress the balance soon, but it's hard when your bottom hole has been probed by red hot pokers, then soaked in soy-sauce and acid.
Joe
I'm sure we'll let you off the jovial banter just this once Joe! Your description of melphalan arse is, however, wonderfully accurate and descriptive, maybe with the addition of a squirt of concentrated bleach to react with the acid and finalise the effect... It's one of those things that is hard to imagine unless one has experienced it ones self!
ReplyDeleteLooking back on my blog I see I woke up feeling a "bit off kilter" on day +4, so it's maybe a day +4 thing? Hope things get better soon for you - those counts will be down and up again afore ye even ken it!
Take it easy my man.

Hi Joe - its Scotty here. (I was going to say 'from the Myleoma UK website' but that makes me sound like a freaky cyber stalker)..
ReplyDeleteKeep your chin up - I know how much the SCT sucks (the memory of my 19 days in Jan are still with me, even if the blanket of ulcers throughout my mouth thankfully isn't). If you want to compare blog notes, check mine out for the Jan SCT entries - think this is how you get into it as a visitor:

Take care now and don't test your 'rear end performance' too much, I can tell you its a risky game come week two...! S x
Hi Scotty,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog link - it's superb. You manage to make hell sound faintly humerous.
My mouth, day +4, is good. Nae ulcers at the moment. Arse has been quite quiet today. Provided them with a bowl of quality stuff first thing, but all quiet on the 'southern front' since then.
Rory - thanks for the bowel link. Truly intereting to a bowel obsessed Glaswegian.
Hi Joe
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your not so good today.
I wondered if you might be up for some more tales of my tattie bags tomorrow afternoon first hand? I will be in your neck of the woods after 4pm and there's not a snotter in sightat the moment. That might change though as the kids go back to school after 2 weeks off! We're bracing our selves for the return of the Culter blighters too!
I'll check back on your website about 2.30pm to see if tattie tales are on or not - if so - could you give me the coordinates so I can locate you.
Take care
Flora xx
Flora - feel free to visit - that would be nice. If you can include some perenial discussion too that would grand.
ReplyDeleteI'm in room 9, Ward 16. If you go in the "middle" door of ARI, the big, wooden revolving one across from the back of the Polwarth. Head right down through across the main passageway and then head up the stairs - 4th floor. Ward 16 is right there.
Don't bring anything please.
Unless they have moved it up one it's on the 3rd floor - you've an excuse though Joe!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's always just felt like more flights.
